Results of the 2004 Brevard Squirrel Count

This year's composite of 26.6% white is the highest yet observed although it is not far from the eight-year average of 24.5% (ranging from 21.6% to 26.6%).   The number of squirrels observed fell for the second year in a row, but only by a small amount (10%) so that their abundance appears normal.  The “hot spot” this year was the Morgan Heights area off Elm Bend Road with 61.2% white.
